A wreck Tuesday in Palm Beach County sent three suburban Boynton Beach residents to local hospitals, two with serious injuries. According to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s traffic report, eighty-three-year-old Janet Edwards was traveling southbound on Military Trail around 3:30 p.m. in a 1999 Chevy Lumina. Edwards was located in the left turn lane at the intersection with Old Boynton Road when the accident occurred.
The other driver, nineteen-year-old Thomas Gell Jr., was driving northbound in the inside lane in a 2011 Kia Optima on Military Trail. Edwards attempted to make the left turn in front of Gell. This is when the front of Gell’s Kia hit the passenger side of Edward’s Lumina. The impact caused both vehicles to spin before they finally came to a stop. Janet Edwards and her passenger, John Edwards, were transported to Delray Medical Center in serious condition. Gell sustained minor injuries and was transported to JFK Hospital.
