Three Women Suffer Serious Injuries After Wrong Way Crash On I-95

Three women are in a Broward hospital, after a morning crash on Interstate 95. One of the women is suffering from serious injuries after being hit by a driver who was driving the wrong way. Nicole Herrera, 23, was driving her 2009 Honda Accord north in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95. She crashed into a 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser head-on at around 3:00 a.m.

The crash occurred on Interstate 95, south of State Road 84. Azayna L. Hayes, the driver of the PT Cruiser and her passenger, Amanda Fader were able to exit the PT Cruiser before it caught fire as a result of the crash. Both women and Herrera were taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Broward.

Police do not know how Herrera entered the southbound lanes of Interstate 95. However, they do believe that she entered the wrong way near the Hollywood Boulevard area. The police continue to investigate the accident.
